Newcomer: Cili Marsall (HU)

Cili Marsall was born in Hungary in 2000 and has already won several awards at a young age, such as the Composer Prize of the Cédrus Art Foundation (Hungary) in 2014 and the first prize at the regional clarinet competition (Érd, Hungary) in 2015. The following year, she won the first prize at the annual clarinet competition sponsored by the music schools of Hungary.

Later, she discovered Boogie-Woogie and was totally fascinated by this music. She then took piano lessons from two Boogie-Woogie pianists, Andreas Sobczyk (Vienna) and Balázs Dániel (Győr, HU), and was supported by both pianists. Since then, Cili Marsall has regularly played with her father David Laszlo Marsall (Cl/Sax) on international stages.

Since 2018, she has also been working as an organizer of a small Boogie-Woogie festival.

Cili was invited as a guest musician to the 11th International Boogie-Woogie Festival in Győr. In addition, Axel Zwingenberger invited her to perform as a guest soloist at the Wiener Metropol.

In 2019, she performed at the Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection (organized by Axel Zwingenberger and Vince Weber).

During these performances, she enjoyed playing with well-known blues and boogie players such as Balázs Dániel (HU), Eric Jan Overbeek (NL), Neville Dickie (UK), Mark Lincoln Braun (US), Christian Willisohn (DE), Michael Kaeshammer (CA), Jo Bohnsack (DE), and Axel Zwingenberger (DE).

Cili Marsall will be performing at both International Boogie Nights in Uster and Thun this year. We look forward to Cili!
