Standing Ovations for international Boogie-Woogie Stars

On Friday, February 14th, the first International Boogie Night Chur took place in the GKB Auditorium. No fewer than ten artists from three nations performed in front of more than 300 guests on Valentine's Day.

The GKB Auditorium in Chur was transformed into a concert hall last Friday. In addition to authentic boogie-woogie, the guests were offered handmade live music from the genres of swing, jazz and blues. In the male-dominated scene, this year's cover woman, Anke Angel from Holland, stood out with her funny and top-class musical performances. For a short time she even played the piano with her high heels, promoting more women on the concert stages. Ray Fein, Switzerland's quintessential boogie-woogie entertainer, knew how to win over the audience with his charm and his very own, enormously groovy version of "Für Elise". The two shooting stars of the scene, Chris Conz and Stefan Ulbricht, showed with their easy-going style of play why they have already been awarded the most coveted prizes in the scene several times. The guest appearances by singer Moritz Schlanke and pianist Dan Popek were also acknowledged with thunderous applause. The extended rhythm section with Arno Schulz (double bass), Mario Von Holten (drums), Duke Seidmann (saxophone) and Joe Schwach (guitar) provided the musical basis.

After saying goodbye to standing ovations, the foyer continued to play until after midnight. A large part of the guests did not miss the jam session and so the atmosphere was great even after the concert.

The International Boogie Night Chur will be organized again in 2021 by Conz Schlanke Events GmbH and Shake and Roll GmbH.
